Murvica guide

Murvica beaches and coves

Below Murvica the coast breaks into small pebble beaches and coves, quieter than anything in Bol. Reach them on foot from the village or along the coast path from Zlatni rat, or by kayak or small boat; bring shade and water, because most coves have no facilities.

Murvica beach

The village has its own pebble beach below the houses, the easiest place for a swim if you are staying in Murvica.

The coves

East of Murvica, towards Zlatni rat, the coast is a string of small coves; part of this stretch is used by naturists. West of the village the coast becomes wilder and harder to reach on foot.

Getting to the coves

  • On foot: paths lead down from the village. You can also follow the coast west from Zlatni rat.
  • By kayak or SUP: paddle west from Zlatni rat in the calm morning, before the wind picks up.
  • By boat: a rented boat reaches the coves you cannot walk to.

What to bring

Water, food, shade and water shoes. Most coves have no bar, no shade and no sunbeds, which is the point of coming here.

Questions about Murvica's beaches

Are there sandy beaches in Murvica?

No. Like the rest of the south coast of Brač, Murvica's beaches are pebble and rock.

Can you walk from Zlatni rat to Murvica's coves?

Yes. Follow the coast west past the end of Zlatni rat. Wear proper shoes, because the path is stony in places.
