Dragon's Cave and Blaca
Dragon's Cave (Zmajeva špilja) is a cave in the hills above Murvica with reliefs of a dragon, angels and other figures carved by monks centuries ago. You can only visit with a local guide, after a steep uphill walk from the village. The Blaca hermitage lies further west and is best reached by boat or by road.

What you see
Inside the cave, the rock walls are carved with a large dragon, angels, a moon and other symbols. The carvings are thought to have been made by Glagolitic monks who lived as hermits in the hills above Murvica, and their meaning is still debated.
How to visit
- The cave is locked, and visits are with a local guide only. Book ahead in summer.
- The walk up from Murvica is steep and stony. Allow time for the climb, the visit and the walk down.
- Wear proper shoes, bring water, and go early in the day in summer.
Towards Blaca
The Blaca hermitage lies west of Murvica, in a remote valley. On foot from Murvica it is a long, hot walk, so most people go by boat from Bol to Blaca bay and walk up, or drive to the top of the valley and walk down.
